Here’s the latest news from Commodore Mark Whitehead:
Not Much Sailing but Still Active
Back Bay is frozen solid, but that doesn’t mean there’s no activity. Our town permits have been submitted and approved. The season schedule of weekly regattas, Sasquatch Footy Regatta, CanAm Soling competition, annual Skipper party, and any other events is ready and waiting for competition committee approval. Mark Whitehead was busy in his workshop making two dozen free-sailing kits for distribution to youngsters in our audience, and Kathleen Whitehead already has thought of a way to annoy skippers in a party game at the May 16 gathering. Tim Wright is working on the AMYA Webinar scheduled for March 11, and the rest of the crew are preparing their boats for the 2020 season action.

What’s on the Agenda?
What’s a Webinar?
Simply put, it’s an online seminar. Tim Wright has been asked by John McClun, seminar coordinator for the American Model Yacht Association, to provide a presentation to the entire country about the way we organize our regattas, our building program, and our club in general. You can join us at 8:00 p.m. on March 18.
Skippers Party
In only three months, the 2019 sailing awards will be given to deserving recipients at the annual skippers party on Saturday, May 16. It will be hosted by the Whiteheads in Ossipee Village, located on a scenic beaver pond populated by blue heron, duckies, and Canada geese.
Sasquatch Footy Regatta
Returning this year will be the Sasquatch Footy Regatta on Saturday, May 30. Skippers from around New England will compete on Back Bay with their twelve-inch R/C sailboats.
The Sasquatch Footy Regatta is one of the five regattas in the Nor’Easter Footy Series held at various locations in New England.
Model Yacht Building
The model yacht building workshop is scheduled for Monday, July 13, through Friday, July 17. Sign up early so you don’t miss out on your chance to sail with our group. Go to https://staging.nhbm.org/model-yachting/model-yacht-building/ for details.
